| This is a report on the translation project of Interpreter Education in the Digital Age: Innovation,Access and Change which was composed by Ehrlich,Suzanne & Napier,Jemina and published by Gallaudet University Press.Chapter seven selected as the source text elaborates signed language Interpreter education in the blended learning context in Ireland and Belgium over the past decade respectively,it also sheds light on the evaluation on digital resources in a blended learning environment.Stemming from the fact that source text belongs to the category of informative text,the project was conducted from the perspective of Communicative Translation put forward by Peter Newmark.It was the shortage of knowledge to the fields of signed language interpreting education,e-learning and blended-learning and along with the lack of flexibility and capability to switch Chinese and English the totally two different languages that made it arduous to deliver readers with readable and acceptable information of the source text.Whilst the top priority of the translation project lies in rendering the readership with acceptable and comprehensible message and information of technology-infused signed language interpreting education and encourage them to draw on the strengths of involved countries for new approaches to accelerate the development of domestic signed language interpreting education and pave the way for the Deaf community to be understood guided by Communicative Translation.Therefore,to tackle problems that hinder the process of translation,a trail of translation techniques including conversion,combination,division,amplification and reconstruction were applied.The report consists of four chapters.Chapter one is an introduction to the project in terms of the background,objectives and significance.Chapter two offers a brief introduction to the source text,it also presents the translation strategy and the preparations,whilst chapter three demonstrates translation difficulties and relevant techniques to iron out the difficulties which holds the key of the report.The last chapter makes a comprehensive summary of the project encompassing the major findings and limitations of the project. |
