Study On Middle School Students’ Mindfulness Characteristics And Intervention | | Posted on:2019-02-22 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:Z P Dai | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2335330545968418 | Subject:Development and educational psychology | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | The concept of mindfulness first originated from the Zen Buddhism and was later introduced into psychotherapy by American psychologist Kabat-Zinn.This concept,integrating Chinese and western cultures,was known and accepted by more and more people and has gradually become a new school of positive psychology.Due to without uniform and precise definition of the concept of mindfulness in academic circles,various versions of mindfulness scale are produced.The Mindful Attention Awareness Scale compiled by Brown and Ryan is the most extensive scale in current usage.The definition of mindfulness in the scale is that noticing and realizing what is happening in the moment,and focus full attention on what is happening and an attitude that already includes acceptance in the present.Considering the issue of cultural differences,the MAAS compiled by Western scholars cannot be directly used for the measurement of mindfulness of middle school students in China.Therefore,it is necessary to revise this scale.At the same time,some studies suggest that mindfulness is closely related to empathy and prosocial behaviors.In order to effectively measure and improve the mindfulness level of middle school students,three studies are designed.The first study is the revision of the mindfulness scale,that is translating the English original version of(MAAS)into Chinese,and testing reliability and validity of the Chinese version of the MAAS.The second study is testing the mindfulness level of middle school students.Questionnaire survey is carried out among 608 students in Chongqing by using the revised Chinese version of the MAAS to test the mindfulness level.The third study is mindfulness training.One experimental class is designated for 8 weeks of mindfulness training and the other class is chosen as control class.When training is over,the Chinese version of the MAAS is used to measure the effect of mindfulness training by testing the level of mindfulness in the two classes.The study arrive at the following reviews:(1)The revised Chinese version of the MAAS has high reliability and validity.(2)The mindfulness level of middle school students in Chongqing area are above average.(3)Empathy plays a intermediary effect of 87.18% in the relationship between mindfulness and behavior.(4)Mindfulness training can effectively improve the mindfulness level of middle school students. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | mindfulness, middle school students, the prosocial behaviors, empathy | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
