John Singer Sargent(1856-1925)is a master of oil painting portraits and watercolor masters who are active in both Europe and the United States.He also speaks with Zorn and Sorolla as the Three Musketeers.Sargent’s watercolor paintings were concise and bold.Not only did he have a certain influence in the Western painting circle,but there were also Sargent’s shadows in the development of modern Chinese watercolors,affecting a group of C hinese watercolor artists.This article is divided into five parts: The introduction part describes the purpose and significance of the research of this topic,the research status at home and abroad,and the research methods of this article.The second chapter gives an overview of Sargent’s artistic career in terms of chronolo gical order.He introduced the causes of Sargent’s artistic style from four aspects,including the family background of migration;the artist’s experience from Duran;the French art salon The impact of Gent’s painting career;and a brief introduction to Sa rgent’s fresco project.The third chapter of the thesis classifies Sargent’s watercolor landscape works into the following themes: Venice theme;Italian famous garden theme;Alps mountain scenery theme;and the subject of the most watched ships,and each t heme is interpreted in combination with the classification of works.The fourth chapter makes a macroscopic analysis of Sargent’s contribution to watercolor art.The first section of the fourth chapter is an overview of the development of Sargent’s waterco lor art;the second section connects Sargent and Turner and Pull.Sikin’s artistic thoughts are contrasted to highlight Sargent’s original contributions in the field of watercolor art.In the third section,Sargent’s compositional features are summarized,and his works are interpreted to illustrate Sargent ’ s influence on Monet ’ s influence.The difference from the Impressionist place.C hapter 5 focuses on my graduation creation and describes some of Sargent’s learning experiences and the influence of Sargent’s watercolor art on my personal watercolor landscape creation.
