The development of science and technology has led to great changes in people’s daily life,which requires people to grasp more knowledge of science and technology;that is,science and technology needs to be more popularized.In recent years,the translation of popular science texts has gradually caught increasing attention.Popular science texts are characterized by traits of both science texts and literary texts.Based on the author’s translation practice,this report aims to put forward more considering perspectives through translation examples.Under the guidance of the Adaptation theory,the report discusses strategies and methods used to translate popular science texts,including adaptation to language sequences,meanings and language logic of contexts,and syntactic rules.This practice report consists of six parts.The first part generally introduces the translation practice on which this report is written and current studies on popular science text translation.The second part describes the background of the translation project description and the requirements of the client.The third part is mainly about the process of the translation practice,including preparations before the translation,the translating procedure and the reviewing after the translation.The fourth part discusses how Adaptation theory is used to instruct the translation of popular science text.The fifth part analyzes typical examples taken from the translation task to illustrate the role of the Adaptation theory.The last part summarizes the author’s gains from the translation practice.
