Our country is entering the aging society and making the quick progress under the condition of ‘getting old before getting rich'.But the perfect old-age security system has yet been established, and the endowment problem for the elderly is becoming outstanding.Among the elder ones,a special group, the Empty Nest Elderly,is facing the dilemma of the absence of economic supports and the absence of children, what? s even worse, they are facing more endowment risks, which is calling for the attentions from the state and the society. Then, among the various endowment modes available, which mode would they prefer would pose influences on their endowment quality and the satisfying degree of their demands. As a result,it has significant meanings as to getting to know their choice among the various endowment modes and providing the targeted old-age security measures.Since the reform and opening to the outside world,Shandong has sustained and stable economic development, but it has also caused serious imbalances in the economic development of the urban and rural areas. To a certain extent,it has destroyed the running environment of the rural Social Aged-care model. Therefore,in the aging population trend accelerated, the family supporting function weakened and the social pension service development is immature. It is imperative to construct an old-age support system for rural empty-nest elderly. In the past, the research on the old-age problem of empty-nest elderly people is mainly concentrated in the urban empty-nest group, and the attention of the rural empty nest group is relatively less.Shandong Province is a populous province in China, whose aging level is higher than the national average and rural empty-nested ratio is also quite high. Therefore, based on relevant theories, the author looks up existing research findings to explore empty-nest elderly's choices of old-age security modes in 17 prefecture-level cities in Shandong Province. On this basis, the empirical analysis has high theoretical value and practical significance. In this research, first of all, single factor analysis is adopted and a series of interaction analyses are carried out to explore possible relationships between variables and dependent variables.Secondly, without regard to other factors, the influences of a factor on empty-nest elderly's choices of ways of old-age care are analyzed and Chi-squared test is utilized to test the significance of the influences.Thirdly, significant influence favors analyzed by single factor analysis are included into multivariate logistic regression model.Lastly influences and influencing degree of integrated effect of multiple factors on empty-nest elderly's choices of old-age security modes are further discussed, with a view to putting forward related opinions and suggestions. At last, based on the discussions and empirical results above,it made the analysis that the Rural Empty Nest Elderly's choice for the endowment modes in 17 municipalities of Shandong Province are impacted by 8 factors which falls into 4 categories, that is,the demographic characteristics, views and values, economic status and social environment. In order to provide rural empty-nesters targeted elderly-caring service supports, this paper proposed a series of suggestions with orientation of willing to select elderly-caring modes, with coverage of conducting elderly-caring services with self-caring mode,as well as establishing elderly-caring allowances, encouraging private capital to participate in rural elderly-caring services, focusing on child-care obligations for fulfilling ultimate responsibilities by strengthening governmental financial security mechanism.
