The American interest group has a long history.In American political life,it not only involves in the judicial,administrative and legislative process,but also influences the formulation of the federal government policy and the introduction of the law by various means.It can be said that interest groups are everywhere.Therefore,to study American politics,we should not only understand the judicial,administrative and legislative aspects of the United States,but also study the American interest groups.To study interest groups,the National Rifle Association is a topic that can not be avoided.Gun violence is occurring every year in the United States,and in recent years it is getting worse.Although the issue of gun control has already caused the attention of the American people,but until today,gun control is still a highly controversial topic in American politics.Under the influenced of the NRA,the gun control process in the United States have difficulties in taking a step.The NRA,as a interest group wielding significant influence in the United States,has played a role that can not be ignored in American politics.It is closely related to the politics,economy and culture of the American society,is a microcosm of the American political.Therefore,do analyses and studies of the NRA and its political functions will help us understand the political system of the United States in a more comprehensive way.So,this thesis carries on the explanation to the American interest group by using the historical analysis and case study methods.The questions this thesis attempts to solve are:by what means did the interest groups participate in American political,and what kind of impact they had on American Politics.Chapter one introduce the concept,types and development history of interest groups.By classifying the existing studies,the author extracts the common features of interest groups,and redefines and reclassifies interest groups.Then,sort out the development history of interest groups,and to achieve a new understanding of American interest groups.Chapter two analyzes the impact of interest groups' participation in politics on American politics.As an important part of American political life,interest groups maintain the stable development of society,expand the degree of people's political participation,and enhance their awareness of political participation,make up for the lack of party system,and make government decision-making more scientific;But at the same time,interest groups also lose their fairness,reduce the efficiency of government work,undermine democracy,lead to corruption and damage the public interest.Chapter three explores the NRA and its policy proposition.Based on specific historical and cultural traditions,and protected by the Constitution,people can legally hold firearms in the United States,and this is the basis for the rise and development of the NRA.At the beginning of its founding,the NRA just to teach people the skill that how to shoot and hunt,until 1960s,began to turn against any legislation related to gun control,safeguard the Second Amendment to the Constitution,and the citizens' right to hold firearms.Chapter four is about NRA's political participation.The reason why the NRA can become one of the most influential American interest groups,in addition to the influence of specific historical and cultural traditions and the protection of the Constitution,it is more important that political parties and electoral systems as well as political systems provide convenient conditions for its political participation.The NRA has played a major role in American politics by lobbying,influencing legislation,influencing the courts and influencing elections.The conclusion summarizes the full text.In the United States,although the evaluation of interest groups is mixed,the existence of interest groups still does more good than harm,and it also makes the American people see the hope of political life.The American society's treatment of interest groups' participation in politics has also provided successful experiences and failed lessons for other countries in resolving conflicts of interest among all parties in the country and reconciling contradictions among the various parties.
