With globalization,the inflow of foreign investment has become a key factor towards the economic development of host countries.Eastern Europe has been one of the most popular investing destination among investors these years.Foreign investment can be either an impetus to economic development of host countries or a potential damage towards their economic sovereignty.As the most important measure to supervise international investments,bilateral investment treaties aim at the prosperity,stability and safety of investments between contracting parties,occupying an crucial position in the legal system of international investments.Since 1990 s,China has been one of the most active countries that took part in international investments.And China has contracted with many Eastern-European countries on bilateral investment treaties.This thesis will analyze and compare the definition clauses on investment and investors in different BITs that China contracted with different Eastern-European countries as long as the confiscation clause.It covers six chapters and approximately 30,000 words.This thesis compares the BITs of different countries that China has contracted with,and sums up the differences or similarities they have.And it will further analyze the effects those BITs had on the foreign investment legislation system of China.
