A Case Work Intervention With The Primary Relationship Network Construction Of The Retired Elderly

The problem of aging population is increasingly serious,and by the end of 2014,China's elderly people over the age of 60 have reached 212 millions,accounting for about 15.5% of the total population.With the growth of the elderly population,the physical,psychological and social problems of retired elderly people are increasingly concerned by the community.After retirement,their life focus has shifted from work to daily chores,and the secondary network based on work has been gradually degraded,so the elderly turn to develop their primary relationship network.However,owing to the difference in individual and environment,some retired elderly people have obstacles in developing primary relationship network.Therefore,from the perspective of social work,the paper adopts a case work study to help the retired elderly people to develop or construct their primary relationship network.Basing on the description of research background,significance,purpose and relevant theories,through in-depth interviews,a trust relationship between the recipient and worker was firstly established,from which the author understood the reality of the situation and gained insight into their obstacles encountered in the primary network construction.Secondly,being problem-oriented,the author adopted the case work method for intervention to help the recipients solve emotional and cognitive problems from the perspectives of individual,family and community,and hence to help them maintain good interpersonal interaction and construct a sound primary network.Eventually,the following questions were discussed from the perspectives of community construction,social resources and government supply system security,including how to help the retired elderly to establish a sound primary relationship network,how to enrich their retired life and guarantee a system for them with the ultimate purpose to gain reliance,worthiness and happiness in the later life.
