The Correlation Between Cross-cultural Adaption And Social Support Among International Students In China

Culture is multidimensional,complex and widespread.Cultural impact on human's psychology and behavior.A wide variety of social formation form different cultures.In the current tide of social transformation,cultural conflicts known as a universal problem.When people from one culture into a new culture, they will adjust their mentality to deal with cross-cultural issues. The process of adapting to different cultures is the process of cross-cultural adaptation. Culture is dynamic. Cross-cultural adaptation is dynamic too.International students is a large cross-cultural exchanges group.The research of them can make cross-cultural study access to more information.The study of social support began in the field of medicine.The study of mental illness patients' social support has laid a solid foundation for this subject.In this study,social support is divided into subjective support, objective support and the use of support. This study investigated the influence of demographic variables on social support.This paper chooses Hebei University's international students as a sample. The three research hypotheses are:First,International student's cross-cultural adaptation and social support is positively correlated.Second,Social support has many significant differences in the factors of demographic.Third,Cross-cultural adaptation has many significant differences in the demographics section.Two scales were designed in this study:Social Support Rating Scale and Cross-cultural Adaptation Scale.After an analysis,I got some conclusions: Gender,age,time to study and Chinese level are related to the cross-cultural adaptation. Gender,age and Chinese level are related to the social support.Cross-cultural adaptation and social support were positively correlated.I will be very serious and responsible. I will use the scientific method to study the problem of cross-cultural adaptation.On the basis of the horizontal and vertical analysis,I will put forward some suggestions. These recommendations will provide a scientific andcorrect guidance for the study of cross-cultural adaptation.This thesis is divided into three parts: The first part focuses on the research status of cross-cultural adaptation and social support research.The second part is the analysis of sample.The third part is the main thrust of this study.The theoretical analysis is carried out for the sample results.I tried to explore the underlying causes of this problem.I tried to extract the effective research results from the sociology and psychology and put forward some effective countermeasures. This study suggests we should put forward proposals in two aspects: social relations network and cross cultural training.
