In China,the English classroom is an important place where students can study and learn English.And the highest frequency behavi or in English classroom is the teacher' s verbal behavior.Effective ve rbal behaviors from English teachers not only reinforce confidence and inte rest in the stu dents,but also promote various aspects of students' thinking ability and second language acquisition ability.However,when it comes to verbal behaviors,there is less resear ch done in senior English cla ssroom than in college English classroom.Therefore this paper tries to conscientiously compare and analyze the difference between classroom verbal behaviors of expert teachers and novice teachers' in senior high school.Verbal behavior is divided into verbal presentation behavior and dialogue question and answer behavior in this study.In term s of verbal presentation behavior,I m ainly do comparative research on characteristics of ve rbal behaviors in clas s revision part,lead-in part,presentation part,practice part and pr oduction part,based on which to conclude effective verbal patterns in d ifferent class teaching step.Moreover,I furth er do comparative research on verbal b ehaviors in aspect of verbal tim e from expert E nglish teachers and novice English teachers in class,based on which to con clude that English teachers should control the tim e of their verb al behaviors in the clas sroom,providing opportunities for students to achieve m aximum language output.When it com es to dialogue question and answer behaviors,question types a nd teachers' feedback are explored and the relative conclusions are valuable suggestions to novice English teachers.The significance of this study is to reveal the real situation of Hefei high school English classroom teaching environment.Furthermore,the research is important because it highlights and showcases how to effectiv ely improve and i mplement proper teaching techniques in the classroom.Research on characteristics of effective verbal behaviors from expert and novice English teachers in this s tudy will not o nly provide the tem plate role model to young English teachers in senior high school,but also promote the process of young English teachers' professional teaching careers in senior high schools.
