As an essential medium in daily communication,pronunciation is a very important part of English learning.However,the language transfer of mother tongue is a common question for each learner.In Gui's(1978)research,the differences of mandarin and English phonetics were studied for the first time.After that,Zhao(1928)began to focus on the negative transfer of Xiang dialect in English pronunciation learning.As for Boyannur local students,who are learning English as a foreign language,they are influenced by their local accent as well.Bayannur dialect belongs to northwest mandarin and as for it is a sub-branch of northern dialect,numerous differences exist between Bayannur dialect and RP(Received Pronunciation)English.It is known to all that large number of foreign language learners always influenced by the phonetic system of their first language.It will make some interference which may result in negative transfer on the acquisition of RP English pronunciation according to the differences between Received Pronunciation English and Bayannur dialect.With the purpose of improving the subjects' pronunciation acquisition ability,the author is trying to research on and to analyze the errors of pronunciation which the students make from segmental features to get the result on how theBayannur dialect influences the English pronunciation acquisition.Specifically speaking,the thesis mainly researches on the negative transfer of Bayannur dialect in English pronunciation acquisition.After that,some suggestions to reduce this kind of phenomenon at the least degree are provided,which will be suggested to use in their daily teaching.The research is conducted by taking 120 Bayannur local senior one students in Number One Middle School in Bayannur as research subjects.Through the questionnaire and voice-recording,the data was collected and then analyzed.The recorded voice of the subjects will be analyzed by local English teacher.According to the analysis of the data collected,it is found that there are several pronunciation errors which the students made in their English pronunciation.The pronunciation errors which coming from the pronunciation test are divided into two parts: errors in vowels like /i/,/i:/,/au/ and errors in consonants like /?/,/e/.According to this result,the study would help the students of Bayannur to be aware of their problems during the English pronunciation learning,which will give a hand to reduce and minimize this kind of transfer of Bayannur dialect during their process of learning effectively and teachers may get some reference to enhance the quality of English pronunciation teaching.
