With the advancement of basic education reform and the development of teachers' professionalization,teachers' professional skills have been paid more and more attention by all higher normal colleges and universities,and they have been included in the curriculum system of normal talents cultivation.However,as the normal colleges and universities pursue their own "comprehensive" and "academic" development,the concept of "normal" in some extent,has been weakened,and teachers' professional skills,an important competitive advantage of normal students,has been in an embarrassing situation.On the one hand,basic education demands urgently for comprehensive skills of teachers,on the other hand,the normal colleges' and universities' ability and desire for teachers' professional skills training has been weakened,.Gansu Normal University for Nationalities is an institution to train the primary and secondary school teachers for ethnic minority areas.This paper,taking the students' professional skills training of physical education in Gansu Normal University for Nationalities as the case,through questionnaire and interview,makes an in-depth study on the status quo of PE students ' professional skills training and the needs for PE students ' professional skills in primary and middle schools,and explores the deficiency and improvement measures of students ' professional skills in physical education of Gansu Normal University for Nationalities to provide some reference for the future work of students ' training.The research shows:1.The curriculum system of professional skills training for physical education of Gansu Normal University for Nationalities has yet needed to be improved.It is necessary to adjust the focus on the professional skills of teachers and project training so as to improve the course proportion on the teachers' professional skill training.2.The students,understanding of professional skill system is not systematic.Although most of the students can recognize the importance of professional skills,they still lack understanding of the specific content of students ' professional skills.3.The implementation process of students professional skills training is still unreasonable and irregular.In the process of training,the curriculum structure and proportion of teachers' professional skills are irrational,the ability to manage is not enough,the organization system is not scientific,the implementation process is irregular and the examination standard is lack of consistency.4.The overall level of the teacher-supervising team needs to be improved.Teachers' guiding process is negative;evaluating and monitoring system is imperfect;guiding means and methods are single;guiding ability are poor.5.Students' mastery of the projects of professional skills training is not balanced.Some is not good enough to meet the social needs.Students can master the basic skills of the best,the professional skills of P.E.in general,and the teaching theory and skills the worst.There is a big gap to bridge to the social needs for physical education teachers' professional skills.
