English phonetics plays an important role in the junior high school English teaching in China.For many years,we have reached a consensus that English pronunciation is an essential part of English learning.However,there still remain pronunciation problems among teachers.Focusing on the phonetics condition and the pronunciation problems existed among junior high school English teachers,and with the help of contrastive analysis,error analysis and phonetic transfer,this paper does a research on the phonetics condition of junior high school English teachers,finds the phonetics problems,then analyzes the reasons of them and gives some suggestions.In this paper,11 English teachers in 7 provinces are researched.With error analysis,their pronunciation and the standard English pronunciation are compared,and problems can be found,including the phonetic problems in vowels,consonants,stress and intonation.Meanwhile,contrastive analysis is used to compare their phonetics with their phonetics of Chinese,and the influence by their mother tongue is found.Then it focuses on the analysis of the reasons of these problems and the suggestions for solving the problems or improving the phonetics condition.The paper falls into 6 parts.Part 1 tells the importance of English phonetics,has an overview on present research situation at home and abroad,and introduces the research approach.Part 2 introduces the theories used in the paper,including the overview on English phonetics,New Curriculum standards for Junior School English,contrastive analysis,error analysis and phonetic transfer.Part 3 is the research and analysis on the phonetic problems of junior high school English teachers'.The reasons of the problems are analyzed in part 4,and suggestions are given in part 5.In part 6,there's the conclusion.
