Professor Lu Ziwen,a well known scholar in our country proposed the term learning proposal and stated that learning proposal is an efficient learning plan constructed by the learner himself based on his learning style,level and content.During this process,the teacher shall provide them guidelines in time(Lu Ziwen,2010:07).It abandons the former learning plan's weaknesses,such as the same learning targets,same learning process.Learning proposal,taking the students' individualities into consideration,emphasizes students' autonomous learning,teachers' guidance and peers' feedback.Therefore,learning proposal helps to develop students' autonomous learning ability and innovative spirit.The author is the English teacher of class 4,Grade 2016 of Sino-Austrain Vienna Senior High School of Music.Those students gifted in arts are underachievers who are weak in learning habits and abilities.Having encountered great difficulty in teaching,the author tried to explore a way to develop their unique characters and cultivate their learning autonomy.Learning proposal encourages learners to design their own learning plans by selecting their own learning targets,activities,and assessment standards under the teacher's guidance,which just meet those students' needs.Therefore,based on constructivism and humanism teaching belief,the author conducted a four months learning proposal teaching experiment and tried to answer the following two questions:(1)In what way does the application of learning proposal affect students' English learning?(2)What problems may arise from the application of the learning proposal?In order to answer the two questions above,the author selected the 50 students from class 4,Grade 2016 of the Zhengzhou Sino-Austrian Vienna Senior High School of Music as the subjects,and employed tests,questionnaires,interviews,learning journals and class observations as instruments.Through data collection and analysis,the author found that,learning proposal in the teaching experiment brought some positive influences to the students' English learning in the ways of having improved their learning habits,learning interest,and self-effect.Besides,learning proposal has also strengthened their sense of learning monitoring and strategy using.In addition,to a certain extent,the application of learning proposal has improved their English learning proficiency.However,during the teaching experiment,some problems occured.First,it took students more than one hour to complete a learning proposal and brought a burden to them.That was the main reason why some students were unwilling to cooperate to do the experiment;Second,it was hard to carry out a whole process of learning proposal-based teaching in a class period.Third,learning proposal brought a challenge to the English teacher.Limited by the author's teaching experience,there was still much room to be improved in this teaching experiment.
