With the country paying more and more attention to the spread of the national image, the Olympic Games is not only a sports event all over the world, but also a global media events, which is of great significance to the construction and transmission of national image in a sense. It has become the consensus of the world that to establish sports image, and then spread the national image by the Olympic Games. As one of three major newspapers in the United States,New York Times always emphasizes the great importance of sports news reports and equipped with the sports section every day to attract the audience.Through the analysis of New York Times for our country sports news reports of 2008 2012 and2016 Olympic Games,we found that the sports image of our country constructed by New York Times is mainly composed of sports system, sports events and athletes of three parts. And with the flow of time, the Chinese sports image in New York Times has also undergone some changes. The sports system of“gold medal first” and cruel training has been diluted, sports events make an achievement but have many drawbacks at the same time, the competition results have been relatively stable and the image of single athletes is becoming variety. In a word, although the sports image of our country constructed by New York Times is still a negative one,but it looks like to transform to a positive aspect.Construction of New York Times the image of sports of our country mainly are at the mercy of existing problems in China, the difference of sports system, ideology and other factors.Suggestion is made as follow: Construct the sports image of our country in the context of global communication. There are two particular ways are: Deepening the reform of our national sports system and then doing moderate packaging and marketing;Helping athletes shaping a good self image, etc.
