It is very important to analyze and to optimize the energy efficiency of cellular networks with energy harvesting ability. So in this paper, through modeling the cellular networks with energy harvesting capability, we complete the performance analysis and optimization of the cellular networks with energy harvesting capability.Firstly, in single-tier RF-based cellular networks, we employ stochastic geometry to model the distribution of the stations and mobile users in the cellular network to analysis the coverage probability and average harvested energy performance metrics. On the other hand, we introduce sleep mode strategy to control the operation state of base stations. In addition, in order to save the most energy under the requirement of the basic QoS(quality-of-service) needs of the network, we design and solve the corresponding optimization problems.Secondly, we not only solve the problem of energy efficiency analysis and optimization in the single-tier cellular networks, but also extend the research to two-tier heterogeneous cellular networks. After a detailed calculation and analysis for two-tier heterogeneous cellular networks with energy harvesting capability using methods in stochastic geometry, we derive the optimal sleep mode strategy under the QoS requirement in two-tier cellular networks, which can optimize the energy efficiency of cellular networks with energy harvesting capability.
