Haiyuan is located in a very important strike-slip of northeast qinghai-tibet plateau fault zone,and in multiple plot transition area which has complex geological structure.Therefore this area Often damaged by destructive earthquake.On December 16,1920,Haiyuan suddenly Happened 8.5 magnitude earthquake which brought huge disaster to local Hui and Han nationality and other ethnic.This paper choose Hui and Han nationality who experienced the earthquake in the early 1920s in Haiyuan as the objects of the research,with the background of history and culture and cultural phenomenon Before the earthquake in Haiyuan.Using the methods of historical documents,field interview,collecting and organizing a lot of oral history data.Author investigated and analyzed family structure,social order,psychological,interpersonal relationship,ethnic relations,living concept that caused by the earthquake to contemplate the meaning of the cultural change.Although the earthquake destroyed homes caused a huge personnel and property damage,but on the other hand,condensed the Ethnic relations in this area.The experience formed the common historical memory of people in the region.After the earthquake,the region has formed some unique cultural phenomenon.This paper is divided into four chapters.The first part is the introduction of the significance of the topic,research methods,current situation research and define the related concept;the second part introduces the geography,administrative,population,ethnic of Haiyuan,and the basic conditions of the Haiyuan earthquake.The third part mainly describes the visions before the earthquake and ways to resolve challenges that they might face after the earthquake.Explanations to earthquake of Chinese In the history,to some extent,affected people's understanding of the Haiyuan earthquake.Earthquake response process as a kind of cultural behavior shows a distinct purpose that eliminates the serious effects of disaster and rebuilds their homes.The fourth part analyzes reconstruction of social and cultural adaptation after the Haiyuan earthquake on the base of the previous text.The last part is the conclusion.
