The short-term effect of different kinds of organic matters and concentration on anaerobic ammonia oxidation(ANAMMOX) system was investigated by operating an anaerobic sequencing batch reactor(ASBR).The results showed that the specific ANAMMOX activity(SAA) and nitrogen removal rate(NRR) were inhibited intensely by glucose, with about 80% lost in NH4+-N removal rate, 84.2% dropped in SAA and77.1% dropped in NRR; Acetate and sucrose had similar effects on SAA and NRR of reactor, and the SAA enhanced 25.0% and 26.1% respectively at 80mg/L. Sodium citrate almost had no effect on the performance of ANAMMOX. The maximum ammonia oxidation rate was observed in the ANAMMOX system fed with sucrose, followed by acetate, citricacid and glucose for organic lords of 80mg/L.Under the loading of organic matters,ANAMMOX and denitrification could coordinately remove nitrogen compound, and enhance the total nitrogen removal efficiency. We explored the effects of Mn(?) and Ni(?) on the activity of ANAMMOX biomass in a ASBR reactor. The experiments demonstrated that the nitrogen removal increased at high Mn(?) and Ni(?) concentrations and the maximum removal efficiency was nearly 93.7% and 94.0% at Mn(?) 0.05mmol/L and Ni(?) 0.025mmol/L, which the removal rates increased 6.3% and 16.8% compared to that without Mn(?) and Ni(?).During the period, the SAA in the reactor with Mn(?) and Ni(?) addition reached2.62[mgN/(gVSS·h)] and 3.08[mgN/(gVSS·h)].This values were 13.9% and 45.0%higher than the reactor without Mn(?) and Ni(?) addition. The stabilities of the ANAMMOX reactor and the ANAMMOX bacterial growth were also enhanced with the elevated Mn(?) and Ni(?) concentrations. However, when the Mn(?) and Ni(?)elevated to 0.075 and 0.025mmol/L,it would cause a mal-effect on nitrogen removal performance. It was indicated that the appropriate increase of Mn(?) and Ni(?) was beneficial for ANAMMOX activity and the growth of ANAMMOX bacteria. The influence of Mn(?) and Ni(?) in ANAMMOX NRR was mainly divided into three stages. The stimulus phase,ANAMMOX bacteria activity was stimulated and the NRR increased rapidly with the increase of concentrations of Mn(?) and Ni(?) from0mmol/L to 0.025mmol/L.The stabilization phase, the NRR in steady state with the concentrations of Mn(?) and Ni(?) increased from 0.025mmol/L to 0.05mmol/L.The inhibition phase, the NRR decrease gradually with the increase of the concentrations ofMn(?) and Ni(?) greater than 0.05mmol/L...
