The instability of the slope has a very close relationship with the action of water. However, the seepage field and the stress field are not present in the slope alone, the damage of the slope is often caused by the coupling of the seepage field and the stress field,it is not practical to consider the effect of water or not considering the effect of water on hydrostatic pressure when considering slope stability. Therefore,we should study the coupling effect of groundwater seepage field and stress field, scientific and reasonable to analyze the stability of the slope, forecast the occurrence of landslides,so according to the actual situation to take preventive measures to reduce casualties and economic losses,on the country's economy and construction has important practical significance.Based on the analysis of the topography, stratigraphic lithology, engineering geology, hydrogeology and environmental geology of a mine dump in Yunnan Province as well as the analysis of the field survey on the slope of the dump. The factors that make the slope stability are complex and diverse, internal factors mainly include geological structure type, rock and soil properties and so on,external factors are groundwater, tectonic movement, engineering load, climate, weathering, topography and so on,among them, the impact of water is most prominent. The influence of rainfall seepage on the slope of the dump and the influence of seepage and stress on the slope of the dump are summarized.Combined with a project of a mine dump in Yunnan, using the slope analysis software Geo-Studio,the numerical model of slope stability analysis is established, select reasonable parameters and boundary conditions, the SEEP/W,SIGMA/W and SLOPE/W modules were used to simulate and analyze the seepage field, stress strain field and stability of the slope under different rainfall conditions, continuous rainfall time and self-gravity coupling. The formation process of the seepage field and the mechanism of the failure of the slope under the coupling of the stress field are studied.derived areas that may lead to slope instability and its causes, and provide theoretical reference for similar slope engineering.Through the limit equilibrium theory to analyze and calculate the landslide stability, the results show that the slope of a dump in a mine in Yunnan Province is in a safe and stable state.
