The content of nicotine plays a very important role in the proportion of smoke components.Cigarette strength is related to nicotine content,and it is closely related to free nicotine content.At present,in view of the disadvantages of low nicotine content and weak cigarette strength in paper-making process reconstituted tobacco,a lot of research work has been done on the production process of paper-making reconstituted tobacco with representative nicotine salts in this paper.Firstly,the effects of nicotine salts and potassium citrate on the pH,the release amount of the total nicotine and free nicotine,the puff number and tar content in mainstream smoke were studied;Secondly,the effect of the addition of nicotine salts on the harmful components in the mainstream smoke was studied;Thirdly,the volatile components in reconstituted tobacco with nicotine salts were studied by headspace gas chromatography/mass spectrometry;Finally,the effect of nicotine salts on the release content of pyrolysis products was studied in paper-making process reconstituted tobacco.The experimental results show that:(1)The contents of total nicotine and free nicotine in the mainstream smoke could be increased to some extent by the screening of nicotine salts with malic acid and citric acid:the former has lower total nicotine release content than the latter,but the former was higher than the latter in the amount of free nicotine and the proportion of free nicotine in total nicotine.In the range of 0 to 2.5%,the increase of potassium citrate had no significant effect on the total nicotine content in the mainstream smoke,so that the amount of free nicotine in the mainstream smoke was increased,the puff number was decreased,and the tar content was decreased.The detection results of pH of the mainstream smoke showed that:there was a significantly negative linear correlation between the content of nicotine salts with acetic acid,malic acid,citric acid and sulphuric acid and pH in the mainstream smoke;but there was a significantly positive linear correlation between the content of free nicotine and potassium citrate and pH of the mainstream smoke.(2)The results show that the harmful components in the mainstream smoke:in the range of 0 to 2.5%,the increase of nicotine salts with malic acid and citric acid in the coating liquid could increase the release contents of CO,crotonaldehyde,ammonia and NNK,and the latter leads to higher release contents of components than tthe former;at the same time,it can also lead to a decrease in the release content of B[a]P,and the latter leads to lower release contents of components than tthe former;but it has no significant effect on phenol and HCN.(3)The effect of nicotine salts on the release contents of volatile components in paper-making process reconstituted tobacco was studied by headspace gas chromatography/mass spectrometry,the results show that there were no differences in the quantity and species of volatile components in two kinds of reconstituted tobacco,which were added with nicotine salts with malic acid and citric acid;when the headspace temperature at 130?,5 these volatile components with higher relative mass fraction in two kinds of reconstituted tobacco is mainly nicotine,acetic acid,acetaldehyde,isobutyraldehyde,2-methyl-3--methyl aldehyde and aldehyde,and the relative mass fraction is consistent with the change of the temperature of the head space,but there are some differences in the relative mass fraction.(4)Pyrolysis products of paper-making process reconstituted tobacco with nicotine salts with malic acid and citric acid of 2%mass fraction were studied by pyrolysis gas chromatography mass spectrometry at the different temperature of 300?,600? and 900?.There was no difference between the pyrolysis products of two kinds of reconstituted tobacco,but the number of the former is obvious more than the latter,both types and numbers are increased with the increase of temperature.The pyrolysis products of the two kinds of reconstituted tobacco at the temperature of 900? are mainly alcohols and phenols,aldehydes,ketones and alkenes,pyridine,naphthalene,benzene and its homologues,nitrile,carboxylic acids,furan,indene,fluorene compounds,etc..
