| The styrene-ethylene-butadiene-styrene(SEBS)grafted graphene oxide/epoxy(SEBS-g-GO/EP)nanocomposites were successfully prepared by modifying the curing agents of epoxy resin. The functionalized graphene oxide(GO)modified with1,6-hexanediamine(GO-NH2)prevent the aggregation of GO itself as well as improve the compatibility between GO and polymer matrix.Styrene-ethylene-butadiene-styrene grafted GO-NH2(SEBS-g-GO)prepared by the solution mixing techniques replaced of the traditional method.A series of materials characterization methods including the X-ray diffraction(XRD),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR),scanning electron microscope(SEM)and transmission electron microscopic(TEM)were used to prove that SEBS has been grafted onto GO-NH2 successfully of the SEBS-g-GO.The effects of SEBS-g-GO on the epoxy resin(EP)nanocomposites were investigated by thermogravimetric analysis(TGA),dynamic mechanical analysis(DMA),tensile, flexural and impact test. The tensile strength and flexural modulus of 0.3 wt%SEBS-g-GO filled with epoxy resin composites are 109.05%and 51.61%higher than that of pure epoxy resin, respectively. Also, impact strength is 139.32%greater than the pure epoxy resin. This is due to the fact that SEBS-g-GO and EP form the interface layer containing the elastic structure of SEBS by covalent bonding.Interface layer contributes to buffering and dispersing the force. The results also showed that SEBS-g-GO was uniformly dispersed in the epoxy resin matrix. Therefore, the mechanical and thermal properties of nanocomposites had been significantly improved. When adding 0.3 wt%SEBS-g-GO to carbon fiber(CF)/EP composites, the mechanical properties are greatly improved compared to CF/EP curing systems without SEBS-g-GO.The flexural strength, impact strength and interlaminar shear strength of CF/SEBS-g-GO/EP composites increased by 81.57%,84.84%and 86.14%,respectively. |
