The Application Research Of Qin And Han Dynasty Patterns In Contemporary Fashion Design

Eaves tile refers to the shield to cover the front end of pantiles at building eaves in ancient Chinese architecture.Its pattern design is graceful,and its font is extremely diversified as floating clouds and flowing water.Eaves tile includes animal pattern,plant pattern,cloud pattern,character pattern and etc.It is an exquisite artwork,belonging to China-specific cultural aesthetic heritage.Moreover,it is of reference value for study on relics and archeology,drawing and calligraphy,industrial art,decoration and styling,and evolution of characters,and has been widely applied in the fields of architectural design and graphic design,playing a very important role in the creation of modern artistic works.Animal pattern was the most prominent one during the period of Qin Dynasty,while character pattern reached the summit in universality and artistry of application after entering the period of Han Dynasty.Qin and Han eaves tile possesses a broad range of subject,and graphic pattern and character pattern are the major patterns.Apart from a variety of subject types and variation,it also owns a rich implication.In fact,the majority of its patterns involve auspicious and beatific meaning that reflects the psychological desires and spiritual needs of human’s blessings.Additionally,such inherent implication is profoundly revelatory to the modern costume design,and the important position of this traditional pattern in the contemporary costume design is further indicated through the research on academic value and application value of patterns of Qin and Han eaves tile.Regarding the origin of eaves tile’s patterns as a starting point,the overall characteristic and artistic value of patterns of Qin and Han eaves tile were studied in terms of subject and content,construction of patterns,and pattern image,and its application status in modern life was investigated as well.Then,the application of patterns of Qin and Han eaves tile in the contemporary costume design was analyzed comprehensively from the aspects of aesthetic significance,application prospect,application principle,application method and formal beauty principle.Furthermore,an innovation research was conducted based on the reserve of its traditional meaning,in order to apply this traditional pattern into contemporary costumes,which not only is a better inheritance and promotion of our country’s traditional culture,but also has creative significance in costume design.
