Contemporary Piano Music Study

Since the 1980s, Guqin music has become more and more popular among folks. The Education and Inheritance of Guqin Music ((hereinafter referred to as "EIGM") is thriving in musical conservatories and non-governmental Guqin-related organizations. In the current multicultural environment, the Modern Guqin Music (hereinafter referred to as "MGM") rises quickly as a new force while the Traditional Guqin Music ((hereinafter referred to as "TGM") is trying to maintain its dominant status. It is obvious that the relationship between MGM and TGM is not harmonious. The MGM is dedicated to innovation as well as getting rid of the shackles made up of traditions. On the contrary, TGM, which is scared of losing its dominant status, sticks to the tradition and opposes to innovation. For the sake of seeking an effective way to develop Guqin Music and balance the tradition and innovation in such a rapidly changing environment, the writer firstly analyzed the history of Guqin music in terms of education and inheritance in the light of history and development and proved the law of "variance" of EIGM. Then, by analyzing the essences, aesthetic thoughts and contents of traditional Guqin music, the writer proved the law of EIGM, and affirmed the positive impact of TGM to present and future development of music, culture and society. The writer also concluded the guideline of the EIGM development, which is to preserve tradition and pursuit innovation in line with the requirements of the times. Finally, the writer made some proposals to EIGM in musical conservatories, non-governmental Guqin organizations, public schools and universities etc, and looked forward to further innovation of EIGM due to the fast development of new technologies and Internet.
