Construction in full swing around the city, the competition between cities has intensified. With the progress of society, the competition between cities is not just a competition, economic figures on the city’s image is increasingly becoming an important factor in competition. In this case, as an important symbol of urban culture manifestations city’s image is particularly critical. This article will be placed on the level of the city wall of Nanjing city cultural symbols, its history since the founding of the rheological symbol meaning, content of communication, dissemination of results, communication strategy systematically analyzed; on the one hand, hope for the city’s cultural symbols contribute to research, on the other hand hope to the Nanjing urban construction and the city wall of the nomination process benefit.The first part is an introduction, introduced the topics of research background, research status, research content, significance and methods. The first chapter has combed after the founding of the city wall of historical evolution; since the founding of the city wall has gone from "protected" to "be removed" to "gradually attention and protection" stage.
