See The Loss Of The Ancient Complex Consonants From The Conjunction Of The Words

The Initial Consonant Cluster is a phenomenon that one cluster is also attached to that other.It means that two associated Consonants act as the initials in the Chinese syllable structure.This phenomenon is abundant in the Indo-European languages, however, there is no consonant clusters in modern Chinese except on some regional dialects. From the current research of The Initial Consonant Cluster, Linguistics has been widely accepted a view that Initial Consonant Clusters existed in the ancient Chinese. Although there are still some scholars hold a negative attitude,their papers and monographs accounted for 1/10 of the total studies. At present, the researches of scholars in academic circles has been spanned a century since a famous sinologist Joseph Edkins raised a hypothesis with Initial Consonant Clusters. Start with discussion whether there are Initial Consonant Clusters, then its types, evolution and other aspects was fully considered.All of these days, the homophone characters as the core materials were studied and discussed,However, other materials were overlooked its function, especially Assonance Lianmian words, only working as supplementary materials. And there are few qualitative study articles about Assonance Lianmian words from the perspective in Initial Consonant Clusters. These documents also don’t summarized all Lianmian words by providing a systematical rules, let alone reconstruct the lost process of Initial Consonant Clusters from the phonological point of view. Because of lacking part of the study, this article has explored the presentation and form of the Initial Consonant Clusters through Assonance Lianmian words.The thesis can be divide into three chapters. Chapter 1 introduces the history and present situations of Lianmian words and Initial Consonant Cluster,and talks about its purpose, significance, object, ideas, materials, methods and explanation for use.In this paper, starting with the initial consonant system and materials, structure types, origin and evolution of these aspects,and introduces researches and contributions of Initial Consonant Clusters at the current academic circles.besides,General method and basis for researching the lost of Initial Consonant Clusters by using non-alliteration and assonance Lianmian words on “Lianmian Dictionary”.In the second chapter,“Explore the lost of Initial Consonant Clusters based on the original Lianmian words ” is not only the body of this paper but also the important contents of it.First of all, it is assumed that there are Initial Consonant Clusters. By means of comments and accounts, it was investigated the second syllable with “l”or “r” assonance Lianmian-words from Lianmian Dictionary,by analyzing Fanqie phonetic of these words, inferring the evolution,and combined with literature materials in this paper.On this basis we are supposed to process and formalism of lost Consonant Clusters.The result shows that these special Lianmian-words should infect the Initial Consonant Clusters of Pre-Qin Chinese.This chapter divides into eight sections,such as labionasal consonant with“l”or “r”, apical fricative consonant with“l”or “r”,apical affricate consonant with“l”or “r”, radical consonant with“l”or “r”,and gutturophony consonant with“l”or “r”,which enumerate the differentiation process of Initial Consonant Clusters by place of articulation.Every sections are arranged in order of ancient rhyme, and then make a list to analysis the contents at the same rhyme.Chapter 3 concludes the series with a summary of the research. This part summarize the results and significance of this study,point out the shortcomings and defects of the paper,and further improve our work. It is also a expectation that the research of Initial Consonant Clusters will make a great progress in future.
