General self-efficacy is the overall confidence to deal with various environmental, it will predict individual behavior in a wider range and affect the individual mental health, it is a more generalized concept of self-efficacy. However, empirical research about general self-efficacy is still seldom. The self-efficacy study is mainly focused on specific areas, the majority of study is about teaching and studying, such as learning self-efficacy, teaching self-efficacy, and so on. Therefore, this study attempts to carry out empirical research in general self-efficacy, and explore the reasons why there are individual differences in general self-efficacy.Wang Rui (2009) found that emotional intelligence capability plays an intermediary role in the relationship between personality and academic satisfaction, in other words, is that personality affects academic satisfaction through the emotional intelligence. Therefore, on the basis of previous studies, this study tries to investigate the personality, emotional intelligence, locus of control and general self-efficacy of 429 serving officers by using the Big Five Personality Inventory (BFI) of the Chinese version, the ability type of Emotional Intelligence Scale (WLEIS), Locus of Control Scale (I subscale in IPC), and try to explore the relationship between the personality, emotional intelligence, locus of control and general self-efficacy. Moreover, this study tries to investigate if the emotional intelligence will play an intermediary role between the personality and general self-efficacy, and if the locus of control, emotional intelligence capability will play the chain intermediary role in the relationship between personality and general self-efficacy.This study draws several conclusions as following:1. There are no differences of general self-efficacy in serving staff's gender, age, household location, occupation and other demographic variables.2. The personality traits of conscientiousness, openness and emotional intelligence, internal control, generally self-efficacy are significantly correlated with each other.3. The serving staff's personality traits of conscientiousness, openness have significant positive correlations with the general self-efficacy, and they can positively predict the general self-efficacy.4. The mediating effect of the ability emotional intelligence between the relationship of serving staff's conscientiousness, openness and general self-efficacy is significant.5. The chain mediating effect of internal control, emotional intelligence between serving staff's conscientiousness, openness and general self-efficacy is significant.Through a series of analysis and building structural equation model, the study found that emotional intelligence plays an intermediary role between conscientiousness and general self-efficacy; it also plays an intermediary role between openness and general self-efficacy. At the same time, internal control and emotional intelligence plays a chain with multiple intermediary role between openness and general self-efficacy, they also plays a chain with multiple intermediary role between conscientiousness and general self-efficacy.
