| With the rapid increasing amounts of airplanes, in the nowadays air-ground communication domain, the traditional voice communication cannot handle the great amount of airplanes in airspace, one way to help accommodate this phenomenon is to develop a new way to communication between pilots and air traffic controller, text communication is the new technique which is believed could displace voice communication or part display. But to the navigation messages, convey the messages right in the display screen(map),and the operator executes messages, this communication way is called space communication, researchers have already found better performance in the form of space communication than the traditional voice communication. But whether the space communication has better performance than text communication is still a question. And the operator’performance will be influenced by the amount of information messages displayed on the screen, thus this paper took aviation communication domain for example, further compared the performance of different space communication forms----sequence space communication and entire space communication by navigation messages. Meanwhile, in our life, we may encounter two or more tasks to do at the same time, thus, this paper further compared the performance of different space communication forms in condition of two-task.This paper includes 3 experiments:Exp1 compared the performance between space communication and text communication,39 subjects performed the classic mouse-clicking task. Results indicated that using space communication has better performance than using text communication.Exp2 compared the performance of different space communication form in the condition of single-task.38 subjects performed the classic mouse-clicking task. Results indicated that the performance of different space communication form is influenced by messages workload, that is in condition of high messages workload, sequence space communication has better performance than entire space communication; in the condition of low messages workload, the two communication forms have the same performance.Exp3 compared the performance of different space communication form in the condition of two-tasks, that is adding extra different types of working memory on the basis the mouse-clicking task.36 subjects did the experiment. Results indicated that, the performance of mouse-clicking tasks under different space communication forms is influenced by the messages workload, that is in condition of high messages workload, sequence space communication has better performance than entire space communication; in the condition of low messages workload, the two communication forms have the same performance. Taking the interference tasks into account, results indicated that the performance of different space communication forms is influenced by interference task types, that is in the condition of visual and auditory interference tasks, sequence space communication has better performance than entire space communication; in the condition of subjective interference task, the two communication forms have the same performance. Taking the performance of interference tasks into account, sequence space communication has better performance than entire space communication in the condition of visual interference task; the two communication forms have the same performance in the condition of auditory interference task.Here are the conclusions from the experiments:One, spatial communication has better performance than text communicationTwo, in condition of high messages workload, sequence space communication has better performance than entire space communication; in the condition of low messages workload, the two communication forms have the same performance, whether or not taking interruption task into account.Three, taking the interference tasks into account, the performance of different space communication forms is influenced by interference task types, that is in the condition of visual and auditory interference tasks, sequence space communication has better performance than entire space communication; in the condition of subjective interference task, the two communication forms have the same performance.Four, taking the performance of interference tasks into account, sequence space communication has better performance than entire space communication in the condition of visual interference task; the two communication forms have the same performance in the condition of auditory interference task.This paper explored the best space communication systematic by taking the single-task and two-tasks into account, which provides basic research to explore best communication form and enriches the researches in the domain of the performance of different communication ways. |
