Cost disease raised by William Baumol is an inevitable obstacle in performing arts.It depicts the economic dilemma existed in opera,dance,music and theater.Over the past fifty years,lots of scholars tried to solve this problem with funds,public supports and so on,however,they cannot address the basic issue that the productivity of live performing arts cannot be increased at anything like the general rate.With the rapid development of scientific technology in the recent year,new media performing arts,like interactive dance,robotic human dance,visual reality show etc,have been in the center of public attention.By reducing the cost,increasing the revenue and developing the audience,new media performance may find a way to break cost disease to some extent and bring more financial benefit to both organization of performing arts and the audience from diverse levels.
