"Night Book" Noun Research

The book of Shangshu is China’s compilation of documentary records related to events in history of China,But in the spread of the process have been repeated catastrophe.During the Han Dynasty,the text of Jinwen Shangshu which was taught by Fusheng and the text of Guwen Shangshu which was taught by Kong Anguo all died in the war of Yongjia.In the Eastern Jin Dynasty,The Kongzhuan Guwen Shangshu which have Fifty-eight articles was rediscovered by the scholar Mei Ze,of which thirty-three articles was the same as Fu Sheng’s,and another twenty-five articles was not any in Fu Sheng’s,which was called Late book twenty-five.The thesis is divided into three chapters on the nouns of the Late book,which is based on an exhaustive statistics and systematic description made on the nouns,and in-depths cultural connotation studied behind the nouns.In order to describe the characteristics of these nouns,I classify these nouns into two categories:monosyllabic noun and polysyllabic noun which contains single-morpheme words and compound words.Chapter One:Description and Explanation on monosyllabic nouns of the Late book.Through deeply studying and analyzing,the characteristics of monosyllabic nouns can be concluded to four kinds:a wide range cover,extended meaning repeated use,original meaning massive use and energetic word-building ability.It also can be concluded that the way of meaning extension is characterized by primarily in chain type,supplemented by radial type and comprehensive type.Chapter Two:Description and Explanation on polysyllabic nouns of the Late book.I classify polysyllabic nouns as single-morpheme words and compound words.In terms of phonetic type,single-morpheme words can be concluded to three kinds:continuous words,reduplicated words and.accompany words.I analyze and interpret these kind of words in detail.In terms of structure type,compound words can be classified as four kinds:coordinate compound words,modifying compound word,predicate-object compound words and subject-predicate compound words.I conclude that these compound words have the characteristic of abundant connotation,unity on meaning and arbitrary combination.Chapter Three:Description and explanation on cultural connotation of the Late book.Digging into the cultural connotations of nouns in late book,exploring the ancient thought of Rule of virtue,Zhongdao and the official system culture in Western Zhou Dynasty.In my opinion,Rule of virtue was an important method for ancient emperors to maintain the rule,and had important influence on the political thought of pre-Qin Dynasty and later period;Zhongdao concept was ancient emperors’ governing philosophy,and the origin of Confucius Doctrine of the Mean.The official system culture in Western Zhou Dynasty had an important impact on later official system.
