Akutagawa Ryunosuke is one of the most influential writers in modern Japanese literature world.Since twentieth Century,scholars who research on Akutagawa literary have emerged in large numbers at home and abroad,they have written many scholarly articles.Among them,in relation to the relationship between Akutagawa and religion,most scholars have demonstrated the influence of Christianity on his generation.But in his writing career,Buddhism undoubtedly had a great influence on him too.Therefore,we only rest on his relationship with Christianity is one-sided and arbitrary.The rich cultural atmosphere in Taisho Era and Akutagawa Ryunosuke's life experience gave birth to his Buddhist novels.His early "The Nose","The Lonely Hell","The Luck","The Taoist Ancestor Interlocution",“The Spider's Thread”and "Hell Screen" these 6 novels showed critique to the Buddhist disciples,Buddhist precepts,Buddhist relief and doubts and beliefs about the "all requests will be granted","hell","karma","Buddhata".He made his own judgment with the delicate sensibility and the pungent language,and formed a complex and contradictory view of Buddhism.From his later "The Future Life Picture","Shunkan","Rokunomiya Princess" and "Nidai"these 4 novels,we can see Akutagawa's attention and thinking on Buddhist life and death problem.He no longer entangled in the details whether right or wrong,but watched at the core of Buddhist life and death.The author's negative attitude showed forth in his writing through the vivid characters.Buddhism,Christianity,Catholicism and other religious all influence on his creation,moreover,the complex growth environment and social environment make his early and late Buddhist view different.His family life and the times was full of twists and turns and unrest,precarious political situation,sensitive character,wavering literary world,continued deterioration of physical health......All the situations were intertwined,causing Akutagawa's wholelife sorrow,and at the same time,forming the great Akutagawa literary.
