An Experimental Study Of The Moral Hypocrisy Of Junior High School Students

In the field of psychological research,the study of moral hypocrisy has been quite common,the difference between the influencing factors and the experimental paradigm has also expanded the theoretical and empirical research of moral hypocrisy to varying degrees.According to the social learning theory and the social influence theory,the existing research shows that social distance can affect the moral hypocrisy,and according to the cognitive dissonance theory and the double processing theory,which considers that the cognition evaluation priming can also influence the moral hypocrisy,whether there is moral hypocrisy influenced by social distance and fair start factors in junior high school students groups is lack of verification of research now.Therefore,this research carries on a preliminary experiment and two experiments under the background of the subjects in junior high school students group,the preliminary experiment mostly confirmed that the effectiveness of the psychological distance operation in the junior middle school students.Experiment 1 combine the psychological distance with the individual level of moral hypocrisy paradigm to inspect the kind of difference in individual’s words and deeds in different social distance conditions;Experiment 2 is to examine that the inconsistent of individual’s moral evaluation of the same fair and unfair behaviors by themselves and others under the different cognition evaluation primings,namely the existence of the dual moral evaluation standard,and the results showed that:As the previous moral hypocrisy study of college students and pupils,moral hypocrisy is exist in the junior high school students groups,showing the universality of moral hypocrisy among groups;Social distance can influence the individual moral hypocrisy,in the presence of others who has the close social distance,the participants would reduce their own interests through moderating interests safeguard their own image;in front of strangers,they will continue to pursue their own interests because of the image is no longer as important as before.This suggests that the close social distance will reduce the moral hypocrisy between individuals.Different cognition evaluation priming can affect interpersonal moral hypocrisy.In the fair evaluation priming conditions,the individual will adopt a relatively fair and equitable attitude to evaluate the deeds of self and others,that is,when they are evaluating the moral score of self and others fair and unfair conducts,they willimprove the moral score of others to reduce the gap with the corresponding score to reduce interpersonal moral hypocrisy.In the self-evaluation of start conditions and control conditions,it will not produce such an impact.This shows that fair evaluation will reduce the interpersonal level of moral hypocrisy.The close social distance and the fair evaluation priming can reduce moral hypocrisy phenomenon is verified by the two experiments;At the same time,to a certain extent,this research shows the phenomenon of moral hypocrisy is relative consistency across the group.
