The existing of the Liao dynasty pagoda concentration distribution in the northeast,north China region.The quality of Liao dynasty pagoda were made of brick,it can resistant earthquake;on the shape of Liao dynasty pagoda,the character is mainly for dense eaves octagon.The composition of structure is Xunmizuo,the tower body,and pagoda final.It’s tall and luxuriant especially the western,regions are very gorgeous.As the transportation hub of the ancient silk road.Development of Buddhism in Dunhuang is flourish,the mural in the grottoes have a long history.A lot of pagodas are in the mural.Through the shape,quality of pagodas can reflect the character of the ancient society.So as the basic of pagodas in Dunhuang murals,use the history document method,statistical methods,image study method,typology regional comparative research and so on.From the Liao dynasty pagodas to study the cultural exchange between east and west fusion.Through the shape,structure and decoration of the Liao dynasty can find the culture element of central plains and the western regions,and analysis in Dunhuang mural retain pagoda image of Tang and Song dynasty and the Liao dynasty pagoda architectural culture of the central plains.Analysis of the Liao dynasty Buddhist culture is the succession and development of the culture of central plains in Tang and Song dynasty pagoda and the relationship between the western Buddhist culture’s influence on the Liao dynasty pagoda architectural culture.From the Liao dynasty pagoda’s characters further study on the Song and Liao period culture of Chinese east and west culture exchange way.
