"The Father" And "Find The Father": The Study Of The Father's Love Writing In Bing Xin's Works

Bing Xin was the earliest widely recognized and praised female writer during the May 4th literary world,occupying a pivotal position in the construction of the new literature.She has been on her way to literature creation,publishing a large number of novels,poetry,and prose,for 80 years since the May 4th movement.The research on her works and herself is one of the important topics in modern and contemporary Literature and Art.Bingxin has always been regarded as the representative of“maternal love” and fills her works with lots of motherly love and tenderness.The "philosophy of love" commonly refers to the love to mother,children,nature,or even to the motherland,while ignoring the equally important theme of Bing Xin works---for the writing of paternal love,which is obvious to look down on this ethical character of father.Both the portrayal of the feudal ignorant father,and the praise of the kind strapping father,as well as the firm "father trial" and the desirous“seeking father” are well embodied in Bingxin's works.In Bing Xin's creation,the description and evaluation of father's love abound by fours and fives.So the theme of father's love can not be avoided before Bing Xin is completely understood.This paper aims to analyze the details of father in her works,with the methods of textual reading and gender research.Meanwhile it combines the author's rich experience of life,and the changes of the theme of the times and political discourse,to analyze the writing of father in her works.The themes of "father trial" and "seeking father",closely related to the times,show different characteristics in Bing Xin's works.Although there still lay some introspection,the modern significance is cannot be ignored.The introduction summarizes the characteristics of Bing Xin's creation in general and the studies made by the posterity on Bing Xin's works.Moreover,it defines this paper's perspective,reasons and research value.The text is divided into four parts.The first chapter reviews the theme of father's love in Bing Xin's works is a part of the “philosophy of love ”.The specific forms of paternal love in Bing Xin's works will be analyzed from three aspects,namely,childhood memories,the sea and military image.At the same time,this part will explain why paternal love was overshadowed by maternal love from political discourse and human discourse and try to make a new explanation of the " philosophy of love ".The second chapter mainly stays focus on the collapse of the patriarchal myth under the cultural context of the "father trial",the deep driving force and text representation behind Bing Xin's theme of "father trial",and the narrative mode of the "patricide".The third chapter dilates another theme-seeking father,which hides behind the "father trial",from three aspects: the reasons to depict the theme of "seeking father",the text representation of "seeking father" complex and the narration mode of "seeking father".The fourth chapter makes a overall summary of Bing Xin's writing,and analyses objectively the value and introspection of the writing of paternal love in Bing Xin's works.In short,the description of father in Bing Xin's works is not missing,especially in her novels and prose.This paper analyzes father image in Bing Xin's works from the perspective of "father trial" and "seeking father",and explores its writing reasons and characteristics,trying to contribute my best to enrich the study of Bing Xin'works and herself.
