| In English learning, students’ writing ability is an important manifestation of students’ comprehensive language expression ability. However, students often have some mistakes in English writing. This paper aimed to discover whether teachers’written corrective feedback can reduce the English writing errors of the students, and if they can, which is more effective for those senior high school students and vocational college students to reduce different kinds of errors.First of all, the questionnaires were used to know students’ current situation of English writing, from the view of students, the demand and expectation of feedback,the effective degree of different feedback in Nanjing Gaochun Senior High School and Nanjing Engineering Vocational College. Then, the each one class of Nanjing Gaochun Senior High School and Nanjing Engineering Vocational College were experimented. Students of each class are divided into three groups, including direct feedback group, indirect code feedback group and indirect underline feedback group.According to the classification of Carl James, students’ writing errors are divided into substance errors,lexical errors,grammatical errors and discourse errors,and the quantitative statistics of English writing are used. Finally, with the help of EXCEL and SPSS 19.0, pre-test and post-test of writing errors are analyzed.Linked to the theory of psychology, the questionnaire data and experimental data were analyzed and discussed, and then the statistical analysis indicates that (1) Direct feedback is helpful for English writing of senior high school students; indirect feedback is helpful for that of vocational college students. (2) Substance errors, and discourse errors are most easy to correct. In regard with the teacher’s time and energy and student attention, indirect underline feedback is best. (3) Lexical errors make no significant improvement through three feedback, which needs further study.It is hoped that the research results of this paper will help high school students, vocational students and English teachers. |
