Research On The Relationship Between Parental Attachment, Marriage Quality And Child Attachment

Infant attachment is a special emotional relationship between infant and his caretaker(parents),which is a emotional tie and bond.As a result of interaction between infant and his caretaker,infant attachment comes into beings.The attachment of infant and his keeper plays a significant role in the development of infant’s cognition,emotion and socialization.Since 1960 s,infant attachment has become one of the important domain of studying Infant’s personality and socialization development.Researchers at home and abroad payed more attention to study of infant attachment along with intensive study of positive psychology.Researchers discovery that family is the chief factor to influence infant attachment by studying influencing mechanism of it.Summarizing existing research,we can draw the conclusion that the researches of infant attachment concentrate on parental rearing pattern,mother’s sensitivity and responsibility,family atmosphere,parental rearing quality,family structured and so on,but the researches are still small on parental marriage and parental attachment.As we all know,marriage is the foundation of family,so difference in degree of parental marriage will influence infant attachment certainly;as foster of infant,parental attachment will produce role on infant attachment via their different parenting,responsibility to infant’s demand.Previous studies have shown that parental marriage is positively correlated with infant attachment;parental attachment predicts infant attachment remarkably;parental attachment effects parental marriage.According to “ecological systems theory”,subsystem of family system influences each other.So,as the subsystem of family system,there is a complicated relationship among parental marriage,parental attachment and infant attachment.Thus,216 children from a kindergarten were investigated,and Preschooler Attachment Scale revised by Hong Peipei,Adult Attachment Scale revised by Wu Weili et al,marial quality quertionnire revised by Olson were used to review parental marriage,parental attachment and infant attachment and research the relationship among them deeply.The research found that:First,gender differences don’t exist in infant attachment,but age differences exist.Smooth interaction score of 5-year-old children is higher than 3 and 4,but there is no difference between 3 and 4;overall attachment of 5-year-old children are higher than 3,and there is no difference between each other.Second,mother’s attachment and marriage predict infant attachment notably.Anxiety dimension of mother’s attachment negatively predicts overall attachment and dimension of Smooth interaction;children and marriage of mother’s marriage positively predicts overall attachment and dimension of attachment-explore,smooth interaction,social active;the relationship with relatives and friends positively predicts dimension of social active.Third,father’s attachment and marriage can’t predict infant attachment.Fourth,mother’s marriage worked as complete intermediary variable between smooth interaction,and anxiety dimension of mother’s attachment.Fifth,father’ marriage worked as worked as complete intermediary variable between social active and anxiety dimension of father’s attachment.
