During the past thousand years of development,the tauren symbol of the Va nationality was admired and respected as a national totem.As an important cultural symbol,the tauren has holiness and seriousness.In the past study of ethnology,the meaning of tauren symbol was mostly explained from the aspect of religion.However,in nowadays,closed villages and communities have no longer existed and then all of the medium has entered the transmission whose most obvious feature is that everything and its meaning have changed.What's more,whether the traditional media(TV,radio...)or the new media(Internet,cellphone...)has entered into every family and joined the economic tide,then what used to be studied by ethnology in the past is disappearing gradually.During this process,as the totem of the Va nationality,the tauren symbol is inevitably existed in a dynamic development process,which is also the process of ethnic culture's mediaization.The process is meaningful for it means that ethnic culture will not be put away as a kind of marginal culture but should be brought into social and economic activities as a vital cultural subject.As a significant component of nowadays society and culture,the development of tauren symbol not only reflects the relationship among its culture,politics,economy and society,but also reveals the reflection on national culture from the other three.According to the text,the tauren symbol is actually used as an extensive media to present the change of Va nationality's society and culture before and after the founding of the PRC,it still belongs to the communication research.Generally speaking,the communication refers to the information dissemination that is represented by the mass media which can be narrowly comprehended as TV,newspapers,cellphones and so on.However,for the Va nationality,as its cultural transmission was almost closed before the liberation of China,the medium time hardly intersects with their life.Instead,the extensive media symbols such as the tauren symbol give a vivid example of the Va nationality's life,politics and economy by using representational expression,their communication effects are much better than the mass media.The writer personally went to the Cang-yuan Va autonomous region and observed the most actual,vivid tauren symbol in the Va people's life in the first view.After that he gave an explanation of the tauren symbol in the present age.In the article,the tauren symbol is deeply studied while its traditional meaning and modern significance are analyzed in detail.There are five aspects in the text:the introduction which mainly summarizes the essay's purpose,significance,content and reference.The second chapter is a quite important reference and it concludes the traditional meaning of the tauren symbol.At last,from Chapter 3 to Chapter 5,the meaning of tauren symbol in new times is well interpreted from the the areas-status,authority and regions.In the article,four research methods are used:the fieldwork,the literature research,induction method and the case study method,they are put together to do deep studies of the tauren symbol and its exhibition in the total national culture and surrounding environment.Whether it is regarded as an inspection of symbols in the communication or it is looked upon as a study on the changes of national symbol's meaning in the media age,researching the transition of tauren symbol's meaning has profound significance on the dissemination of the national culture.
