| The complexity and the frequency of using it make Chinese complement one of the most important and difficult part in teaching Chinese as a second language.Second language learners often find it confused when confronting the flexible usage of Chinese complement,while the conception of "complement" in the grammar system of English is much different from what is in Chinese grammar system.Some categories of Chinese complement cannot be found in English grammar,so Chinese learners would have few chances to find similar grammar structure from their mother tongue or from medium language,often English,and learn Chinese complement by comparing.As the number of English-speaking Chinese learner multiplies,the studies of comparing Chinese complement and English complement,the studies of errors and teaching methods in teaching Chinese as a second language and the studies of the English translation of Chinese complement have also multiplied.All these studies contribute to the learning of Chinese complement of second language learners and the teaching of Chinese as a second language of the teachers.However,the studies in the field of English expression of Chinese complement are relatively few,and mainly focus on the grammar itself.The study on the shoes of teaching Chinese as a second language and focused on language application is still so few,and this paper will contribute to it.This paper is mainly about five important categories of Chinese complements and is divided into five chapters.The first chapter is about why the topic is chosen,what studies there are already,what contents this paper will tell about,how the conclusion is summarized,the meaning of the conclusion and how the author collect language materials.In the second chapter,the author first analyzes the meaning and structure of five categories of Chinese complements according to Zhu Dexi’s classifying theory,then analyzes the sentences including Chinese complements and Their English expression gathered from the book Anthology of Chinese and English Prose published by Yilin publishing house and try to conclude the regular patterns of how Chinese complement is expressed in English.In the third chapter,the errors on Chinese complement of Chinese as a second language learners from English-speaking countries will be analyzed and the cause of those errors will be concluded.In the forth chapter,the conclusions of the former two chapters will be applied to give suggestions to Chinese as a second language learners and teachers,in order to improve Chinese as a second language teaching.In the last chapter,the author will conclude the main ideas of the whole paper and its shortcomings and express some expectation on this study. |
