This report is a research on a consecutive interpretation practice based on Justin Trudeau's speech in the 72 th UN conference.Under the guidance of Interpretive Theory, the author recognizes problems in the process of interpreting and then categorizes and analyzes them by using different interpreting strategies. The theme of this speech is about the “First Nation” in Canada and about how the Canadian government's efforts on fixing the relationship between the government and indigenous people as well as the action the government will take to help create a better life for them, which provides experience for the Chinese government because people of more than 50 nations are living in the same country in different regions.Apart from that, the reason why the author chose this speech is that the speaker Justin Trudeau,Prime Minister of Canada, has a stable sound and clear pronunciation so it is not very difficult to understand and interpret his speech. While writing the thesis, the author compares two interpreted versions of the speech in order to demonstrate the guidance and importance of the Interpretive Thesis in an interpretation practice. After analyzing them in the respect of grammar, semantics and pragmatics, the author of the report hopes it will give some inspiration to interpreters.
