Based on the seismic data analysis and previous study, the faults characteristics and its controlling role in oil & gas accumulation in Qingshui Sag are researched in this essay. The results show that two fault system, one deep and one shallow, developed in this region. The deep fault system mainly consists of antithetic faults, and the shallow mainly consists of faults developed along the major axis orientation. Most faults are nearly east-west distributed while Dawa faults and its derivatives are NE distributed. The deep faults through E2S3 control the source of oil & gas, deposition of E2S3 to E2 d,and migration & accumulation, while they make an important controlling role in the formation and distribution of shallow oil & gas reservoirs. The faults' controlling role in depositional evolution is also analyzed in this essay. The distribution of reservoir-cap rock assemblages and the accumulation of oil & gas are controlled by Dawa fault, whose structural characteristics and activity intensity variation controls the distribution of subsidence center and major source rock in this region. We propose that E2S1-2 of Qingshui,E2S3 of Haiwaihe steep slope, and Mz of Dawa are favorable accumulation areas.
