In this paper,we focus on the oil-paintings that have been damaged due to the age and special-structured scroll paintings,combining with the need of protection and restoration of actual works of art,this paper starts from the principle of terahertz imaging and uses three different terahertz imaging systems,according to the difference of imaging systems and characteristics of samples to be tested,the different self-made samples and oil paintings were tested and analyzed,the main corn work is:(1)Terahertz time-domain spectroscopy system.Since terahertz time-domain spectroscopy system is suitable for high-precision measurement,independent produced oil paint tablet samples and small oil painting samples were measured,terahertz spectrum information of different colored oil paints were obtained,this gives data support for subsequent measurement of actual oil paintings.Meanwhile,this system was used to perform imaging experiments on small oil paintings.However,due to the long measurement time of the system,a continuous terahertz wave imaging system was selected for large oil paintings.(2)Continuous terahertz imaging system.The SynView system,which uses the principle of FM continuous wave detection,detects the ancient oil painting collected in the Bordeaux Museum in France,it verified the successful restoration of ancient oil paintings and non-destructively detected the internal defects of ancient oil paintings.(3)Terahertz CT system.The THz CT system was used to test the scroll oil sample.Matlab software was used to reconstruct the data.The letter information inside the sample was obtained without opening the scroll painting,and the three-dimensional data was developed from three-dimensional to two-dimensional.Then the scroll bamboo slips were further tested.The results show that terahertz imaging is applied to the study of artwork.For plane artwork,the inner damage and the sketch information beneath can be detected without any destruction,for scroll type of artwork,the scroll painting can be unfolded non-destructively by mathematical analysis.This work provides an effective method for the protection and restoration of ancient artworks.
