This paper investigates the petrology, reservoir space, diagenesis, pore evolution, reservoir influence factors of the Xiashihezi formation sandstone reservoir from Y1 well in Linxian,Shanxi, using experimental methods of microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, high pressure mercury injection and porosity/permeability test(under pressure). And the reservoir was evaluated based on the experimental results and previous research. The results show that the major type of sedimentary facies of Xiashihezi formation sandstone in study area is meandering river delta. The main lithology is lithic sandstone and followed with lithic quartz sandstone. The pore types of the reservoir are mainly primary intergranular pores, micropores, dissolution pores, intergranular pores and microfractures, and the reservoir property is relatively poor with thin pore throats well developed. The relationship between porosity and permeability is positive and the reservoir is developed with strong heterogeneity characteristics. The sandstone was significantly influenced by reservoir diagenesis.Compaction, cementation and metasomatism made a destructive contribution while dissolution and rupture are constructive. The diagenetic stage of reservoir is in the period B stage of middle diagenesis. The formation of favorable reservoir is controlled by many related factors such as sedimentation, diagenesis and tectonism. The sandstone reservoir of Xiashihezi formation of Y1 well in study area can be divided into three types according to the reservoir division criteria, with the sandstone reservoir at S1 and the bottom of S2 belong to III-IV type and the sandstone at the upper S2 belongs to type I.
