In order to solve the problem of effective presentation of human-machine interface visual information,some researchers combined the eye tracking technology based on the traditional highlighting technology.And they proposed the eye-controlled highlighting technology to try to optimize the shortcoming of the traditional highlighting technology.The eye-controlled highlighting technology can instantly highlight the display information of users' interest in real time.It also makes the highlighting more user-friendly,and the interactive process more natural and effective.At present,the research has proposed the eye-controlled block highlighting technology and the eye-controlled single highlighting technology.The research shows that both of these eye-controlled highlighting can improve the user's task performance in the search process.In addition,the display efficiency of the eye-controlled single highlighting technology can be affected by different visual features.In order to further systematically explore the display efficiency factors affecting two eye-controlled highlighting,this study explores the impact of different visual information presentation materials on the efficiency of two eye-controlled highlighting.Moreover,the study considers the application of two eye-controlled highlighting in the search of subway road sign.There are composed of four experiment in two phases.The first phase is to study the display features of the eye-controlled highlighting,including Experiment 1,Experiment 2 and Experiment 3.Experiment 1 uses digital and word materials to consider the effects of eye-controlled highlighting;Experiment 2 uses low-frequency word and high-frequency word materials to consider the effects of eye-controlled highlighting;Experiment 3 uses low-complex word and high-complex word materials to consider the effects of eye-controlled highlighting.The second phase consisted of Experiment 4.Experiment 4 applied the eye-controlled highlighting into the actual search,which is the subway road sign,and considered the influence of the eye-controlled highlighting on the subway road sign searching performance and workload.This study has four conclusions:(1)Both eye-controlled single highlighting technology and block highlighting technology can effectively improve the search performance.(2)The eye-controlled highlighting is affected by different word frequency word materials in visual search: searching low-frequency words,the eye-controlled single highlighting technology has more advantages;the eye-controlled block highlighting technology is faster than the eyecontrolled single highlighting technology in searching both high-frequency and low-frequency words.(3)The eye-controlled highlighting is affected by different complexity word materials in visual search: the eye-controlled single highlighting technology has more advantages in searching high-complex words;the eye-controlled block highlighting technology is faster than the eyecontrolled single highlighting technology in searching both high-complex and low-complex words,and it only can improve the performance in searching high-complex words.(4)The eye-controlled highlighting also has different application features in searching the different familiarity subway road signs: the eye-controlled single highlighting technology has more advantages in searching unfamiliar road signs;the eye-controlled block highlighting technology is faster than the eye-controlled single highlighting technology in searching both different familiarity road signs.Based on above results,we explored the principles for eye-controlled highlighting,and revealed the display features of two eye-controlled highlighting,supplementing the gaps in previous research on eye-controlled highlighting.At the same time,we also explored the application of eye-controlled highlighting in searching subway road signs,and expanded the new field for the practical application of eye-controlled highlighting in human-computer interaction.
