When a finite beam of light enters the interface of the optically thinner medi-um from the optically denser medium at an angle of incidence greater than the critical angle,the Goos-H?nchen shift refers to the lateral shift of a totally reflect-ed wave beam from the path usually expected from geometrical optics.This paper considers an infinite medium boundary surface,when a beam of light is incident on the optically thinner medium from the optically denser medium,the time-averaged Poynting vector in the plane of incidence near the critical angle.When discussing the interface the time-averaged Poynting vector,we can use the trans-lation method to calculate the reflection electric field and magnetic field,but the translation method only subtracts the critical angle ?c from the incident angle ?0 to be larger than 0.30(ie:?0-?c>0.3°)is valid,however this paper considers the time-averaged Poynting vector in the plane of incidence when the incident angle minus the critical angle is less than 0.3°(ie:0<?0-?c<0.3°).The incident beam we used satisfies the following conditions:a Gaussian wave packet perpendicular to the propagation direction;the polarization direction is parallel to the interface of the two media.Under this incident beam,the electric field and magnetic field of the incident surface and the time-averaged Poynting vector are calculated re-spectively,and the corresponding flux lines diagrams under the condition of TM polarization are numerically displayed.We find that the lines are smooth when ignoring the interference terms between the incident light field and the reflected light field.When adding the interference terms of the incident light field and the reflected light field,the flux lines become non-smooth and there are many small protrusions.In both cases,the width of the reflected energy flow is narrowed,and in the energy flow problem discussed in the translation method,the width of the reflected energy flow and the incident energy flow will not change.
