The Taipinggou copper-molybdenum mine is located in the transition zone between the Daxinganling Mountains and the Songnen Plain, which belongs to the middle section of the Da Xing'an Mountains. In the forest marsh area, forest coverage is very high, and the bedrock is rarely exposed. In this situation doing the large-scale geological mapping becomes very difficult.Based on the previous research,it is easy to find that geophysical and chemical exploration method has become the most important exploration method. There was still a problem with the 1:10,000 soil measurement to determine the location of the mineralized body.:There is no Mo mineralization was found by the borehole verification of the soil Mo strong anomaly zone.In order to further understand the distribution characteristics of soil elements in the study area,a systematic vertical soil profile sampling was performed on the anomalous zone. The results show that in the residual slope distribution area, the content of Cu,Mo and Bi in the deep residual soil is higher than that in the B layer soil.In the study area, the B layer soil indication effect is very poor.It indicates that the geochemical conditions of the landscape in the Taipinggou area are quite special, and the application of conventional geochemical exploration methods has encountered serious challenges. We then conducted a detailed geogas survey of the area.In this study,41 elements in ground gas were analyzed by high resolution plasma mass spectrometry(HR-ICPMS).The measurement results show that the metal elements in soil are successfully captured in the collected samples, and the sampling method is effective. In order to understand the characteristics of element assemblage, factor analysis was made for 39 elements such as Ag,Ba,Mn,Mo,Pb,Zn,etc.from the single group of measured data of geogas.Among them, the cumulative contribution rate of five characteristic roots is more than 85%.It shows that the relationship between elements in this area is simple and has obvious regularity. The results of geogas measurements show that there are five multi-element anomaly zones in the study area. The anomaly intensity of the anomaly zones is high and coincides with the spatial location of ore bodies. After the verification of drilling holes,it is proved that the geogas measurement method is effective for the detection of Mo ore.In order to compare the relationship between the distribution of elements in soil and the distribution of elements, the measurement results are displayed on the same map in order to find a reasonable explanation basis for the anomaly of geogas. The results show that there is no perfect correspondence between soil measurement and geogas measurement in the study area, and the indicative effect of molybdenum mineralization shown by surface soil measurement is not good.Among them, the anomaly of Mo deposit produces a certain distance of displacement, which is due to the weathering of mineralized bodies in mountainous areas. In this study, more empirical materials and data about different types of concealed deposits have been obtained in China, which proves that the geogas method can be applied to more types of concealed deposits, and this result is of great practical significance.
