Monolayer and few-layer transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDs)are a series of new two dimensional nano semiconductor materials which own some excellent optoelectronic characteristics such as wide band absorption,strong third order nonlinearity and direct bandgap in single layer materials.These merits ensure significant applications of TMDs in pulsed laser and other optical nonlinear research fields so that they have aroused researchers' attentions from all over the world.Optical fiber laser is an important device to generate pulsed laser.It has become an important research task on how to incorporate two dimensional nano materials with fiber laser in order to meliorate performance parameters of optical pulses and push further development of pulsed fiber laser.To propel the application of TMDs in fiber laser and understand their superb nonlinear optical characteristics thoroughly,this paper stands based on predecessors' research work to finish specific work.In detail,our work includes fabricating four TMDs polyvinyl alcohol films in experiments by ourselves,characterizing material characteristics via special equipment,validating material saturable absorption and for the first time manufacturing simple saturable absorber with Tungsten Diselenide to apply in erbium doped fiber laser to obtain stable Q-switched pulses.Besides,the nonlinear absorption ability and performance difference in erbium doped fiber laser of four main TMDs are compared in a relatively systematic way.As for the experiment results,the influence of material heat stability to the performance of saturable absorbers is discussed and corresponding melioration scheme is put forward.This thesis demonstrates the feasibility for these four TMDs to act as saturable absorbers and apply in erbium doped fiber laser to generate pulse laser.It provides a preliminary but meaningful exploration for subsequent researches to generate superior pulses even ultrashort mode locked pulses.Meanwhile,it also enlightens subsequent researchers to do similar work on other new two dimensional nano materials.
