For a long time,landslide,which is one of the three major geological disasters,has brought inestimable loss of life and property to human beings,especially in Sichuan Province,which is located in the southwest mountain area.Therefore,the study of slope stability and failure mechanism under rainfall conditions has important theoretical guidance and practical significance for disaster prevention and mitigation.In this paper,a series of model tests are carried out to study the seepage characteristics and stability of foundation-covered slope under rainfall conditions,and the numerical simulation is carried out by using the numerical software GeoStudio on the basis of the model test.The research results of this paper mainly include the following parts:(1)The failure phenomenon of slope in the process of rainfall is studied by model test,and the results show that rainfall leads to block sliding failure of slope.(2)The overall stability of the slope after rain stop is studied by model loading test.The results show that the ultimate load of slope instability increases at first and then decreases with time.According to the failure type and range of slope foot caused by rainfall under various working conditions,the mechanism is explained.(3)The variation of soil volume water content and pore water pressure with time is studied by model test and numerical simulation.The results show that with the progress of rainfall,the volume water content and pore water pressure of slope soil in the process of rainfall and after rain stop are studied by model test and numerical simulation.The soil water content and pore water pressure of the slope gradually increased from the surface to the deep layer of the slope,and the soil water content and pore water pressure decreased gradually from the top of the slope to the foot of the slope after the rain stopped.(4)The stability of the foundation covered slope under the condition of rainfall is studied by numerical simulation.The results show that the stability of the foundation covered slope decreases gradually with the rainfall time,and decreases with the rain stopping time.
