The grain size data of sediment record the characteristics of grain size attribute and spatio-temporal change of sediment, and the grain size data of sediment can be used to study the deposition process, handling process and transport mechanism of sediment, and to interpret and retrieve the basic characteristics of sediment, sedimentary environment and its evolutions. For a long time, the lack of systematic and effective preservation of a large amount of granular data accumulated in sediment studies has led to problems such as inaccuracy in the query, use, and management of sediment particle size data.In this paper,GIS and database technology are applied to the management of sediment granular ity data, and the development of sediment granularity data management system based on GIS has been developed, which make up the shortage of sediment granularity data management system and improve the efficiency of sediment granular ity data management and utilization. At the same time, the spatial analys is function in which GIS specialized is used, which can study the spatial distribution characteristics of sediment grain size and provide a new tool for spatial analysis of sediment grain size data. The main contents and results of this paper are as follows:(1)Studying on related technologies involved in the development of sediment particle size data management systems is mainly divided into four parts.Firstly, the related system development technology is analyzed, determining the system uses integrated secondary development.ArcGIS Engine is used as the component library for system development and SQL Server + ArcSDE is used for data management. Also,C# language is used to develop sediments particle size data management system.Secondly, the sediment size data processing method is studied.According to the user's requirements, the calculation methods of traditional particle size parameters and particle size fractal dimension and the method of drawing particle size distribution are studied respectively. Then the method of sediment particle size spatial interpolation and the principle and implementation steps of IDW,OK,Spline and NN have been studied. In this paper, the interpolation results of these four interpolation methods are compared and analyzed. Finally, the particle size trend analysis method is studied. After comparing and analyzing the three most representative methods(McLaren method,Gao-Collins method and LeRoux method),a GIS-based particle size trend analysis method is proposed and a corresponding algorithm is made.(2)The requirements of the construction of sediment grain data management system is analyzed and the overall structure and function of the system is designed. The overall design of the sediment granularity data management system has been completed in this paper.According to the data sources and collection methods of the system, data classification and characteristics of the system are analyzed, and then the system data standardization processing and quality inspection and control methods are studied. On the basis of this, the name and coding of the system data are designed, and the design of the system database is completed from three aspects of conceptual model design, logical model design and phys ical model design.(3)Based on the above studies,Visual Studio 2010 is used as the system development platform. The secondary development component ArcGIS Engine is used to complete the development of the sediment particle size data management system. The system functions mainly include basic functions of map display operation, map query, calculation of traditional granularity parameters, calculation of granularity and fractal dimension, spatial interpolation, partic le size trend analys is,and entry, storage, query, and export of sediment particle size data.
