The prospecting of the coverage area is the key and difficult point in the field of resource exploration. The shielding effect of the cover layer weakens and attenuates the deep mineralization information. The lack of systematic research on the formation and influence of surface geochemical anomalies has become a constraint to the coverage area. The key factor for the mine to achieve breakthroughs. In this paper, the scientific problems of the relationship between the overburden and the surface geochemical anomalies are selected. Two different types of geochemical anomalies(the secondary halo anomalies in the Cao Siyao mining area and the scattered dispersion anomalies in the Quan Zigou)are selected in the shallow coverage area of Jining,Inner Mongolia. The analysis and comparison of ore-forming elements in the core sediments have yielded the following conclusions and results:(1)The vertical distribution characteristics of 12 mineralization related elements such as Ag,As,Au,Bi,Cu,Hg,Mo,Pb,Sb,Sn,W and Zn in shallow drilling sediments were analyzed. It is found that the content of most elements in the overburden layer of Cao Siyao anomaly increases with the increase of depth, and is affected by the ore body that is close to the surface due to denudation, showing the characteristics of migration from bottom to top. There is no obvious relationship between element content and depth in the anomaly area of Quan Zigou, which is mainly controlled by lithology.(2)Analyze the vertical distribution characteristics of the elements in the two anomalous areas, and use the principal component analysis method to process the borehole data of the two anomalous areas, and extract almost all ore-forming elements in the boreholes of Cao Siyao secondary halo. Both have a positive component of the positive load and reflect the effects of deep ore bodies. The Quan Zigou mining area extracts the combination of elements representing high temperature, medium temperature and low temperature metallogenic elements, and the high values of the elements in each element combination represent different lithologies, reflecting the difference of the original halo damage and the handling of the river.(3)Comparing the vertical distribution characteristics of two anomalous elements and elements, and comparing the vertical distribution characteristics of the elements, the content of the abnormal elements of the secondary halo of Cao Siyao is controlled by depth, and the content of anomalous elements in the scattered flow of Quan Zigou is affected by lithology.Control,to a certain extent, portrays the source differences of mineralization elements.(4)Summarize the vertical distribution of the elements and combinations of elements revealed by the difference characteristics of the two anomalies. It is found that the Hg element is enriched in the surface layer of the overburden in the secondary halo anomaly zone, and there is no obvious change in the anomalous zone of the dispersed flow, which has positive significance for prospecting in the coverage area. The Pb/Cu value of the surface layer of the overburden layer can distinguish the secondary halo anomaly and the dispersive flow anomaly in the same anomaly system to some extent, but further testing is needed for its universal applicability. The research in this paper has positive significance for improving the understanding of the mechanism of abnormal formation and prospecting in the coverage area.
