Image processing is a part of signal processing..Image information as the geophysical data can not only provide rich raw data and the results of processing,and more visual image,the higher the resolution for geological interpretation.With the development of image processing technology is more and more widely in the field of Applied Geophysics,with image as the basic elements of the storage,processing and management is the inevitable trend of the combination of large calculation and integrated geophysical interpretation.In this paper,according to the geophysical knowledge,the application of image processing in geophysical data processing is studied..In addition,in the image denoising,image edge detection done a specific experiment,the use of MATLAB experiments and verify the theory and the actual operation is consistent.Through the study,the image processing has a basic and comprehensive understanding.In the end,the development of the geophysical technology is introduced,and the trend of image processing is introduced and prospected.Image processing edge detection plays a significant role in seismic interpretation work.Traditional Sobel operator may cause inaccurate and omissive edge detection.This paper presents an improved edge detection operator.Firstly,through a series of preprocessing,an image whose SNR(Signal Noise Ratio)and edge definition get improved can be obtained.Then,this image is tested by improved Sobel edge detection operator,and fractures' positions can be confirmed.Result of test shows that,compared with traditional approaches,displays of fractures are better and edges of fractures are more accurate and coherent,meanwhile,interference of noising is eliminated.Thus,this method is relative effective and should be emphasized.
