Transverse fault is widespread in the thrust belt,the research of it is significant and valuable.Experienced multi-episodic tectonic changes,the Kuqa thrust belt has have the structure foundation of developing transverse faults.To study on the transverse faults of Kuqa thrust belt is of great importance to help geologists understand the tectonic framework more comprehensively.Combining the remote sensing image?deep geophysics data and seismic section to analyze,the tectonic characteristics and genetic types of transverse faults in the Kuqa thrust belt were studied.The research found that:(1)There are 16 transverse faults exists in the Kuqa thrust belt,9 of them structure and property were confirmed.Most of them are strike-slip fault and others are tensional faults.These transverse faults mainly distributed in northern monocline tectonic zone,Kelasu tectonic zone and Qiulitag tectonic zone;(2)Transverse faults can be divided into three genetic types include basement activation transverse fault,cover-tear fault and tensional transverse fault;(3)Combining tectonic geology theory and engineering geology theory,this research provides the Transverse fault-River-Fan model to explain the connection of transverse fault and transverse river.And the transverse fault also play an important role in the process of the orogene and basin coupling.(4)This research take the examples of typical cases to illustrate the transverse fault's effect on the formation of trap and the segmentation effect on hydrocarbon reservoirs.
